PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man who pleaded guilty in a woman’s gruesome stabbing death is facing 15 years in prison.

Keonte Key was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in the 2012 death of Anne Gilkerson. Half of that time was suspended, leaving Key with 15 years to serve.

Gilkerson was found dead in a Broad Street home in the Port Norfolk area. Police said Gilkerson had been stabbed 123 times. 

Earlier that day, Gilkerson’s friend David Gough, was found dead inside a burning Jeep. Winston Bernard Black Jr. was later found guilty of first-degree murder in Gilkerson’s death, and second-degree murder in Gough’s death.

A judge sentenced Black to 70 years in March for the stabbings of Gilkerson and Gough. He also took a plea deal in the 2011 murder Samuel  Martin — and will serve 35 years concurrently with his previous sentence.

Key testified as a witness for the prosecution during Black’s trial in January.

Key was initially charged with first-degree murder in the Gilkerson case, but the charge was later amended to second-degree murder. He pleaded guilty to the charge in August 2016.
