PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man previously convicted and sentenced for stabbing two people to death in 2012 has taken a plea dea for another murder.

The Office of Portsmouth  Commonwealth’s  Attorney  Stephanie  Morales  said Monday Winston  Bernard Black  Jr. pleaded guilty to murder in the 2011 death of 44-year-old  Samuel  Martin.

Black got 35 years in prison, which he will serve concurrently with the 70 years he got for the 2012 stabbing deaths of David Gough and Ann Gilkerson.

Prosecutors said Black and several others tortured and killed Martin at a home on Broad Street in Portsmouth. Black is said to have poured boiling water on Martin, hit his joints with a hammer and suffocated him.

Several people helped move Martin’s body to a vacant home in the Cradock area of the city, where they burned it. Martin was found with burns over 50 percent of his body, and “evidence  of blunt force trauma to his skull and ribs.”
