The two were arrested following in the death of 25-year-old Patrick M. Cochrane, who was found shot inside of a car on East Little Creek Road in March. It was later determined that Cochrane had been shot some 200 feet away in the 7900 block of Orchid Avenue.

Charges of second-degree murder against Banta and Harris were withdrawn in Thursday’s hearing. They are both scheduled to be sentenced March 8, 2019.

A third suspect, Thomas Nesmith, was arrested in connection with the homicide in April. Nesmith, a known member of the Crips gang, is charged with second-degree murder.
