On May 21, 1994, PORTSMOUTH POLICE WERE SEARCHING FOR CLUES AND SUSPECTS IN TWO SEPARATE SHOOTING DEATHS. THE FIRST HAPPENED AROUND 8 O’CLOCK NEAR WALLACE AND CAMBRIDGE. POLICE SAY 32-YEAR OLD REGINALD CANNON WAS FOUND SHOT TO DEATH IN A PARKED CAR. A SECOND GUNSHOT VICTIM, 29 YEAR OLD HAROLD FRANKLIN JUNIOR, WAS FOUND NEARBY. HE WAS TAKEN TO SENTARA NORFOLK GENERAL WHERE HE’S IN SERIOUS CONDITION. WITNESSES SAW SEVERAL MEN RUNNING AWAY IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SHOTS WERE FIRED, BUT CANNON’S BROTHER DOESN’T KNOW WHY ANYONE WOULD SHOOT HIM. THE SECOND MURDER HAPPENED AROUND ELEVEN ON WEBSTER STREET. THERE POLICE DISCOVERED THE BODY OF 29 YEAR OLD ERIC MORELAND LYING HALFWAY IN THE STREET. HE TOO HAD BEEN SHOT TO DEATH.
