WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Instead of a second debate, Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump participated in dueling campaign events Wednesday night.

A Harris town hall took the place of another debate she offered to do with Trump and the focus quickly turned to new allegations against the former president.

During a CNN town hall in Pennsylvania, Vice President Kamala Harris seized on allegations former president Donald Trump’s longest-serving chief of staff made in two interviews.

Retired Marine General John Kelly called Trump’s leadership style “fascist” and said the former president suggested that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler quote “did some good things.”

“The people who know him best on this subject should be trusted,” said Harris.

Kelly also warned Trump demands loyalty to himself over the Constitution and Vice President Harris said Americans should take that very seriously.

“He’s just putting out a 911 call to the American people. Understand what could happen if Donald Trump were back in the White House,” said Harris.

The Trump campaign denies the comments and Trump went on the attack against Vice President Harris and her running mate Governor Tim Walz.

“He is really a sicko, right? Remember when he called JD Vance and I weird? We’re not weird. We’re very solid people,” said Trump.

During a rally in Georgia Trump largely stuck to other topics.

“I don’t like my hair tonight,” said Trump.

Trump tied Vice President Harris to President Joe Biden’s record.

“After all the catastrophe she has caused, Kamala Harris can’t say one thing she would do differently,” said Trump.

Harris will travel to Georgia Thursday for a rally with former president Barack Obama and Bruce Springsteen, while Trump will be on the other side of the country with rallies in Arizona and Nevada.
