Michelle “Missy” Langer, 60, was an administrative assistant for the City of Virginia Beach Public Utilities Department for 12 years. She was a resident of Virginia Beach and formerly from East Liverpool, Ohio.
Her neighbor, Debra Wyman, told 10 On Your Side that she moved in across the street from Langer three years ago, and the two women developed a quick friendship.
“I’m in shock,” Wyman said. “There are no words that can be put in that and honestly it didn’t cross my mind that somebody close would be hurt like that.”
Langer’s colleague, Tara Reel, described the administrative assistant as being a “bubbly ray of sunshine” with a great sense of humor.
“She was not afraid to cut up when the situation called for it,” Reel wrote. “There was so much warmth in her presence.”
Langer’s memory is being celebrated by her sister, Deborah Borato, her husband, Ron, and brother, Herman F. “Fred” Langer and his wife, Kim, of East Liverpool. She also leaves behinds many close friends in Virginia Beach, including her best friend, Ruth Tilley.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, June 8, at 9:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 400 Hill Boulevard, East Liverpool, Ohio. A visitation for friends will also be held Friday afternoon and night at Dawson Funeral Home in Liverpool, with family present from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
