Alexander Mikhail Gusev was employed by the City of Virginia Beach for nine years. He worked as a Right of Way Agent for the Public Works Department and was a resident of Virginia Beach.
His friend of 10 years, Alex Lambrino, wrote on Facebook that Gusev was a “great human being” who was “full of life and joy and laughter.”
“We have played soccer together every Sunday morning for as long as I can remember,” Lambrino wrote. “He was a vibrant eastern European community member who worked for the City of Virginia Beach.”
A GoFundMe set up in Gusev’s memory had raised more than $11,000 by Monday afternoon.
A service will be held in Gusev’s memory on June 9 at 2 p.m. at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, located at 601 N. Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach.
