A local motorcycle club is mourning the loss of one of its members as police look for the person who hit and killed him with a car.

Maury comes into the state semifinals as the defending state champions, having outscored opponents by a margin of 760 to 81. The Commodores had five shutouts and scored 80 or more points in a game three times. Meanwhile, Green Run has outscored opponents 455 to 75, picking up six shutouts (not including a forfeit win over Princess Anne).

Residents say incidents similar to the one in which a 17-year-old boy in Virginia Beach died after being shot Monday night outside the Tallwood Apartments are rare.

A man has been shot on Kent Drive in Portsmouth Tuesday evening, police said.

Officials are still working to determine what sparked an underground fire that raged in James City County for five days.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue arrived at the 200 block of King’s Highway around 12:45 p.m. Monday to find a fully involved shed fire. A North Carolina man who helped feed Hurricane Helene victims in the western part of the state over Thanksgiving is hard at work to provide them with a traditional Christmas experience later this month.

Help is on the way for Veda Fulford.

First thing Tuesday morning, a representative from the city of Norfolk's Department of Human Services arrived at her home to check on her welfare.

This came after Fulford, 38, a double-amputee who is in "hospice and home health," was having to deal with a home without running water and limited electricity, with a pipe bursting in her 105-year-old home during frigid overnight temperatures early Sunday morning. Her children are staying with relatives while the family copes with the issues.
