NORFOLK, VA (COURTESY OF THE NORFOLK TIDES) — The Norfolk Tides (2-1) fell to the Durham Bulls (1-2), 17-5, on Easter Sunday at Harbor Park. The Tides will have an off day tomorrow before heading to Charlotte for their first road trip of the season.
Durham scored 10 runs through the first two innings and never looked back, maintaining a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. The lone run by the Tides early was scored in the fifth inning when Jackson Holliday knocked an RBI groundout.
Norfolk showed some life in the ninth, scoring four runs due to two two-run homers by Coby Mayo and Peyton Burdick. But the Bulls lead was too great, as Norfolk lost the series finale, 17-5.
The Tides hit the road for a six-game game series at Charlotte, with first pitch at 7:04 p.m. Neither team has announced their probables.
