PORTSMOUTH, VA (WAVY) — It’s not everyday that a Hall-of-Famer pops up to greet some of his biggest fans! On Sunday, NFL Legend Jerome Bettis stopped by Rivers Casino Portsmouth to meet the area’s Steelers faithful.

He was shocked to see just how many fans were out in attendance as part of Steeler Nation.

“It never gets old because you get to see the fans. They tell you their stories, how much they were a fan. You love to hear that part because having been retired for so long, you don’t remember some of those things,” said Bettis

And with a little bit of an interesting local tie, Bettis has had the chance to talk to former Steelers Wide Receiver and Virginia Beach native, Plaxico Burress, as both their sons are committed to play football at Notre Dame.

“We’re trying to guide our sons. we want them to have the best experience they can possibly have. We’ve had our moment in the son, so now it’s time for our kids to have that next step,” said Bettis
