PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake’s Grant Holloway is one step away from a gold medal.

The Grassfield High grad won his Olympic semifinal heat for the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.13 seconds. Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment, 2012 Olympic 110m hurdle bronze medalist, came in second.

The finals are at 10:55 p.m. ET Wednesday.

In an interview after the race, Holloway said his mindset is to “come out and win” and execute each round. He will have laser-sharp focus ahead of the finals Wednesday.

This is Holloway’s Olympic debut, after he won eight national championships at Florida and a world championship in the fall of 2019.
