NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — After losing a 45-37 shootout to Coastal Carolina last week, Old Dominion is back on the road for another Sun Belt contest when the Monarchs head down to Atlanta to take on Georgia State.
ODU is sitting at 1-4 while the Panthers are 2-2, with a win over Vanderbilt, which upset No. 1 Alabama last week.
Monarchs freshman Colton Joseph started at quarterback against Coastal Carolina on Saturday and threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for another score.
There was also the emergence of running back Devin Roche, who accounted for more than 100 yards.
Despite that disappointing record, players are still holding their heads up.
“Can’t really focus on the bad,” wide receiver Isiah Paige said. “All it takes is that one little spark, then you get rolling and it’s hard to stop.”
Said sophomore safety Mario Easterly: “We know we still have a great shot to make it to a bowl game and still win the Sun Belt. We are all coming together trying to piece it together so we can be that explosive team that we can be.”
Georgia State is favored by 1.5. Kickoff is 3:30 on ESPN+.
