NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — What a day to be a Norfolk State Spartans fan.
The fact that we not only heard “warm up the bus” chants from the band, and then got to see the nets come down for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, that means two things:
- Both teams won (and are still undefeated at home)
- Both teams clinched their regular season MEAC titles
The Spartans’ men won 69-50 over Maryland-Eastern Shore, while the NSU women beat Maryland-Eastern Shore 52-40.
This was Robert Jones’ fourth regular season MEAC title, and Larry Vickers third. The women’s team is currently riding back-to-back-to-back MEAC regular season chips, while the men’s team won their first since the 2021-2022 season.
The women’s team won their title outright, while the men’s team clinched at least a co-championship. Both teams will host Howard Thursday. If the men win, they’ll be outright champs.
