NORFOLK (WAVY) – Hampton had 466 total yards in a massive 37-7 win Saturday against Norfolk State. Quarterback Chris Zellous went 20-25 with 185 yards passing, 60 yards rushing and two rushing scores.
“I feel like today was one of our cleanest games of the season, as it should be,” Zellous said after the game. “We have to take advantage of each opportunity. Play hard and smart football. We have a lot of talent on this team.”
The Pirates defense was stifling, holding the Spartans to 104 total yards and 4-12 on third down.
The win marked the sixth straight game the visiting team has won the Battle of the Bay.
Next week, Hampton travels to Washington D.C. to face Howard, while Norfolk State plays VMI in Lexington, Virginia.
