YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — Trying new things paid off big for one Yorktown resident.

Katelynne Berland wins $50,000 ticket

Katelynne Berland won $50,000 from a lottery ticket she bought at a 7-Eleven in Yorktown. She was running to get some lottery tickets for her mom, and ended up getting one for herself, too. The ticket she bought was a winner in the April 14 drawing. Berland said she plans to help her sister pay for college.
