UPDATED 11:26 A.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia State Police are investigating after a single non-commercial aircraft crashed at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport on July 21.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. on the runway. There were no serious injuries reported and no one was taken to the hospital.

Currently, all runways and taxi lanes have been reopened.



UPDATED 11:26 A.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — After a small aircraft crashed at the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport on Friday morning, crews have removed the plane off the runway.

According to the Roanoke-Blackburg Regional Airport, two flights have been delayed.

Currently, flight #5503 traveling to Atlanta was scheduled to depart at 11:29 a.m. and is now scheduled for 12:17 p.m. Flight #5181 traveling to Charlotte was scheduled for 11:09 a.m. and is now expected to depart at 11:39 a.m.

UPDATED 10:40 A.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Emergency crews responded to the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport (ROA) after an incident involving an aircraft on July 21.

According to Alexa Briehl with the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport, shortly after 10 a.m., a minor crash involving a single non-commercial aircraft was reported.

Several agencies including the ROA Public Safety and Operations Team, and Virginia State Police responded to the airport.

Briehl says runways 16-34 are in the process of reopening and there is no impact on street traffic.

At this time, there are no serious injuries. Roanoke Fire-EMS Department says no patients have been transported to the hospital.
