ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) — A member of the Virginia National Guard stationed in Hampton Roads is facing a child pornography charge in Isle of Wight County.
The Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office said in a news release deputies arrested 36-year-old Gregory Wacks, of Carrollton, Wednesday on a felony charge of distribution of child pornography.
Wacks’ arrest came after deputies received a cyber tip from Homeland Security Investigations, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies also received assistance from the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
A public affairs officer with the Virginia National Guard confirmed Wacks is an airman assigned to the 192nd Wing at Joint Base Langley-Eustis.
Wacks is a major who works full-time with the national guard as a federal technician, and is a human resources officer. He joined the Virginia Air National Guard in June 2016 after 10 years of service in the Air Force.
The sheriff’s office said Wacks was released on a $2,500 secured bond.
