One of the cuter events that I’ve gotten to write about this week was the Puppy Bowl. Being a sports novice myself, I was happy to write about a Super Bowl event that I could relate to. Clicking through all 39 puppies, learning their names, finding out what the event was all about and pulling the blog post together was so much fun. I’ve written several posts for HRScene at this point and I find that this type of writing is right up my alley. If there’s one thing I’ve learned during my first few weeks here at WAVY it’s that composing blog posts is what I’m good at.
The next project that I’ve been working on is Valentine’s Day content. I’ve been brainstorming with another web desk content producer and we’re going to try to compose a quiz or two in order to get more clicks on the website. This past week the calendar on HRScene was synched with the WAVY calendar. This will change the way I update and compile stories for the weekend planner. One thing I’d like to accomplish here is to get the weekend calendar to look more aesthetically pleasing. Taylor Obier and I talked about paring down the content on the weekend planner to make it shorter and possibly getting sponsored posts. I’m looking forward to diving into this project.
Other than the puppy posts I’ve been working on updating the Olympics coverage. This is sure to ramp up with the Opening Ceremony happening this week. I’m participating in the GIF Passing the Torch effort that WAVY is engaging in next week so I’m ready to learn just exactly how Olympics coverage affects the office and web content specifically. There’s so much I’m learning about posting web content in this internship and I’m so excited to be able to put my name on a post that I’ve worked on and know that the content is solid. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
