Portsmouth police to hold RESET Walk Monday after deadly shooting

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY)– Portsmouth police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to Wilson Drive just after 12:15 a.m. They found 33-year-old Elbert Brown, Jr. with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Paramedics declared him dead at the scene.

10 On Your Side spoke with residents living nearby.

Many stated they were not home at the time but it’s usually a quiet community.

One woman, who stated that she knew the victim, remembered him as a sweet person and that Brown would be missed.

Police do not have any suspect information at this time.They also do not have a motive for this case. 

Officers will conduct a R.E.S.E.T walk within the community Monday at 3:30 p.m to engage with the community in the wake of the shooting.
