PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A Portsmouth man arrested for sex crimes against a minor under the age of 16 is also accused of trying to have her killed.

Court documents say Antwan Miller, of the 100 block of Peninsula Avenue, was served additional indictments on March 1 for attempted capital murder for hire, attempted capital murder by inmate, solicitation to commit murder and obstruction of justice.

He already faced more than two dozen indictments certified by a grand jury, including two counts of rape, four counts of forcible sodomy, four counts of object sexual penetration, six counts of aggravated sexual battery, six counts of indecent liberties with a child by custodian and six counts of indecent liberties with a child.

He was served those indictments on Nov. 6.

Court documents say Miller tried to kill the victim via murder-for-hire twice — once on October 1, 2017, and again on December 9, 2017.

This all happened while Miller was in custody. He was arrested back on July 24, 2017, after police started investigating accusations against Miller in June of 2017.

He’s currently being held at Hampton Roads Regional Jail, awaiting a jury trial scheduled for June 26.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Morales and her office have requested for a substitute prosecutor to be appointed to investigate the case due to a continue conflict of interest. Court documents say additional charges could be brought against Miller, including witness intimidation, obstruction of justice, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit attempted murder.
