Virginia airports, including Norfolk’s, to receive millions in funding

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Biden-Harris Administration has announced that many Virginia airport terminals will receive funding for infrastructure improvements, which will reportedly improve passenger experience, accessibility and sustainability.

Sens. Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, along with Rep. Bobby Scott, announced that Norfolk International Airport will receive about $6.6 million to pay for the construction of a new federal inspection service facility, which will be used to process cargo and agricultural products.

The money will also increase capacity at the facility, allowing for multiple aircrafts to be processed at the same time.

“Our regional airports service hundreds of flights weekly, and we’re glad this funding will help improve Norfolk International’s ability to process flights in a timely fashion, ensuring that the facility stays functional and safe,” the lawmakers said.
