PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A suspect is facing charges after police say one man was killed in a shooting late Tuesday morning in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth dispatchers tell 10 On Your Side the shooting happened in the 600 block of Dunkirk Street, just off Towne Point Road. Dispatch received a call about the shooting around 11:55 a.m.

Police said in a tweet the man killed was shot in the upper body and died on scene. He was later identified as 26-year-old Reginald Lamont Smith II of Portsmouth.

Officers later arrested 26-year-old Devontae Robinson, and charged him with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in a felony.

Robinson was arraigned on the charges Wednesday morning.

This is the fourth reported shooting in three days for the city of Portsmouth. A man was found shot to death on Stratford Street earlier Tuesday morning.

Residents of the city tell 10 On Your Side enough is enough.

“I’m fed up with it, yea i’m def fed up with it. I’m almost scared to come out the house now especially this close to my house, oh God I say oh lord,” said Lucy Wilson.

Portsmouth police held another RESET walk Tuesday afternoon in response to the shooting early Tuesday morning.

Residents say they believe the walks can be helpful, but only if they see less crime in the neighborhoods.
