VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — People came to Pups and Pints in Virginia Beach to remember the life of Virginia Beach firefighter, Matt Gallina, who passed away from cancer. 

Friends and family spoke about how great Gallina was and how he will be missed. People were asked to wear baseball jerseys, something that Gallina loved. Two of his close friends and co-workers said this was extra special because Gallina’s kids picked them specifically for each person. 

“They decided to go in the closet and pick out jerseys they would want us to wear, that Matt would probably want us to wear,” said close friend Joe Allen. “It’s pretty awesome.”

Rob Doran, another close friend who worked with Gallina as a fire investigator said everyone was there to show support to the family. 

“This is a tough time,” said Doran. 

The memorial will be held at Harbour Park on Monday. Doran and Allen said it was Gallina’s mom’s idea to hold the service at a baseball field.
