One injured following shooting on Interstate 64 in Hampton, suspect in custody

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY)- Virginia State Police are investigating a shooting on Interstate 64 Saturday morning.

Police were notified of the shooting at 9:11 a.m. eastbound near the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel.

One person was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. 10 On Your Side is working to learn the extent of the person’s injuries.

On April 15 around 5 p.m., 41-year-old Mario Blackley, turned himself in to state police and was taken into custody for the interstate shooting.

Blackley was charged with malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. An emergency custody order was also issued. 

According to police, the suspect and shooting victim knew each other.

Interstate 64 at Mallory was shut down and VDOT was rerouting traffic during the investigation.
