HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — The long reign of the pumpkin pie continues in North Carolina.
According to High Point University’s annual pie poll, pumpkin pie reigns supreme as North Carolinian’s favorite pie for the fourth year running.
Twenty-four percent of respondents chose gourd-based pie over any other pie. Pecan pie came in second, with 18% of the vote, and sweet potato got 17% of the pie. Apple pie rounded out the top responses with 15%, and all other options had less than 10% of the vote.
This is the fourth year in a row that pumpkin and pecan have dominated the other pies.
“Similar to other years, pumpkin pie still ended up on top for North Carolina’s favorite pie choice. Pumpkin pie has been the top choice for the last four years,” said HPU Poll Research Assistant Natalie Hinson. “Other popular pies this year are pecan, sweet potato and apple. I believe it’s interesting that for at least one topic North Carolinians can come together on what their favorite holiday pie is.”
