DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — NCDOT says US 64, one of the main routes to the Outer Banks, is back open after being closed in both directions just west of the Alligator River Bridge.
There’s still little information about the crash itself. NCDOT originally said at 12:34 p.m. it wwould likely take several hours before the roadway reopened, and shared at 3:43 p.m. it was back open.
The Dare County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public to avoid the area if possible, but has not released additional information about possible injuries.
