KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. (WAVY) – The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and the Ocean Rescue Division have located the people who moved two lifeguard stands from the beach to the street.

According to a Facebook post, the lifeguard stands from the Hayman Blvd. and Helga Street beach access spots were moved from the beach to the roadway.

Officials say these stands are heavy and that moving them back to their location could cause unnecessary harm to their staff.

In an update on June 29, officials said the parties responsible came forward and were remorseful for their actions. Officials then explained the seriousness of moving lifeguard stands and how it affects their jobs.
