NORTH CAROLINA (WAVY) — Dominion Energy crews are in the Outer Banks preparing for Tropical Storm Debby.
Crews are taking inventory and loading trucks up with roadblocks and cones in anticipation of the rain heading towards the islands.
Operations Supervisor Joshua Gray said preparation begins with putting safety first. Before heading out, crews make certain to wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, crews do not work on power lines in strong wind conditions.
“Sometimes you might see some of our crews sitting in the truck, which can be frustrating to our customers, but understand that we do have processes that we have to go through,” Gray said. “We will definitely get your lights on. There’s no doubt about that. We’re here to get your lights on. Sometimes it may take just a little bit longer than others, but we’re here to get your lights on, and we will get them on.”
If you see a downed power line or experience an outage you can report it to Dominion Energy by calling 1-866-DOM-HELP, dominionenergy.com or with the Dominion Energy app.
