COROLLA, N.C. (WAVY) — Another Corolla wild horse was laid to rest on Monday after nearly 40 years of roaming, according to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund.

On Oct. 17, the Corolla Wild Horse Fund found one horse, Flint, in worse condition than the last time he was seen. His condition indicative he may have a tooth infection. The horse couldn’t survive these conditions without interference, the organization said.

Flint was caught and brought to the organization’s farm to receive antibiotics and painkillers while enjoying eating the grass. On Monday, a vet examination determined he had no functional teeth left as well as a severe sinus infection.

“Based on the state of his teeth, along with other physical characteristics, we determined he was at least in his late 30s,” the Corolla Wild Horse Fund said. “At that point there was no question that the best thing for Flint would be to help him pass safely and peacefully.”

Flint was laid to rest in a quiet spot in the woods at the farm, next to his son Danny.
