Norfolk officially launches its new bike share program

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A program designed to make biking easier is now in Norfolk.

City officials on Friday put 150 new bikes on the road, thanks to a partnership with bike-sharing service Pace. Through a smartphone app, bikes can be rented at a cost of $1 per half hour.

The program will eventually have 250 bikes spread throughout the central business district and north of downtown.

Paul Filion, transportation construction project manager, told 10 On Your Side earlier in the week there will be 15 bike racks spread from downtown to Old Dominion University and the Virginia Zoo.
