VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The “no cursing” signs at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront will soon be no more.

George Kotarides, president of the Atlantic Avenue Association, tells 10 On Your Side the association has been working for months to ask the city to remove the signs.

Kotarides believes they are not welcoming to visitors and do not influence people’s behavior.

The association worked with the Resort Advisory Commission of Virginia Beach, which presented the city with the proposal. The city agreed to have the signs removed.

10 On Your Side is still working to learn the time frame for the removal of the signs.

Marielena Balouris will have more details about the removal of the signs as well as Kotarides’ plans for them tonight on WAVY News 10 starting at 4.
