VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — It’s officially happening.
New Realm Brewing Company will reopen the former Green Flash brewery and taproom in Virginia Beach.
The company had recently announced it was purchasing the brewing equipment inside the 1209 Craft Lane location, but it wasn’t clear whether the brewery would be reopened to the public.
It’ll be the second location for the young Atlanta-based craft brewer, which was founded in 2016.
“As we looked at ways to serve our growing base of New Realm fans, it was important to us that we remain a local brewer in the Southeast, expand capacity, increase innovation and stay true to our core values,” said Carey Falcone, CEO and co-founder of New Realm Brewing, in a press release.
New Realm hopes to open the location as soon as it acquires the necessary licenses and permits for operation.
The brewery will feature a tasting room, an outdoor beer garden and a private event space, and will be able to produce 40,000 barrels of beer a year.
Meanwhile, Green Flash was recently sold to new investors after a foreclosure. The San-Diego based brewer said it struggled to pay its debts after purchasing the $20 million Virginia Beach location in 2016.
