CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Rena Jones had her baby boy Kemorrion stolen from her at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on July 20 over a decade ago.

He was found hours later, hidden in the hospital, but he was okay. Shameka Pittman pled guilty to the abduction in 2007.

“She fluffed my pillows, introduced herself as a nurse. She wore burgundy scrubs,” said Jones tells 10 On Your Side.

Jones says Pittman snuck in the maternity ward, abducted her son, hid him in a diaper bag and tried to get away.

“Inside of the bag. She had Kemorrion in the bag with a blanket over the top of him and she zipped my baby up. He was only two days old,” she said.

She still carries documents and pictures with her from that day — pictures of the waiting room Kemorrion was found in, the baby security bracelet that was cut off of him that put the hospital on lock down, and the police report that has Pittman’s statement in it.

Jones says even 11 years later, this day still haunts her. It’s changed the way she lives, and parents all three of her children. “I’m very cautious. I don’t let them go nowhere,” she said.

Kemorrion says they have strict rules they have to follow to give mom piece of mind.”We can’t go far away from the house. We can’t go anywhere without telling anybody,” he said.

Jones says to this day she still tells parents about her story and reminds them to always be cautious.
