Member of Nine Trey Gangsters sentenced to life in prison for four murders

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A member of the Nine Trey Gangsters was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday for his role in four murders and several other shootings.

Court documents state that 26-year-old Anthony Foye of Suffolk is a known member of the Nine Trey Gangsters, an East Coast street gang with affiliation to the United Blood Nation.

Foye pleaded guilty to murdering Al-Tariq Tynes, Vandelet Mercer, Linda Lassiter and Wayne Davis, shooting several other people across Hampton Roads and shooting into a home in Portsmouth.

According to court documents, Foye and another gang member convicted of multiple murders, Nathaniel Mitchell, were trying to gain a reputation in the gang as “shooters.” None of Foye’s victims had any affiliation with the gang and three of them were parents or grandparents to young children.

Foye pleaded guilty in May of last year to four counts of murder in aid of racketeering. He attempted to withdraw his guilty plea in November, but a judge denied the request.
