Man sentenced to 33 years in 2016 Norfolk homicide

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man convicted of shooting another man to death in 2016 is now facing more than three decades in prison.

According to the Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney, Grenah Garnett was formally sentenced to the jury-recommended 33 years in prison on Friday.

A jury convicted Garnett of the crime following a trial in July.

Police said 50-year-old Andre E. Valentine was killed in the shooting near the intersection of Avenue H and Davidson Street.
