NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man who was convicted for his role in a 2007 murder will serve more than a dozen years behind bars.
Officials say Billy Wilson Everett was formally sentenced Friday to 13 years — which is what jurors recommended back in September. Everett was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, concealment of a dead body and defilement of a dead body.
Everett was one of four people indicted in June 2016 for the murder of 26-year-old Lori Jordan, of Virginia Beach. Jordan’s body was found in December 2007 in a wooded area in the Barraud Park section of Norfolk.
The indictments came following an extensive four-year investigation.
Two of the other suspects, Frank Everett and Teressa Everett, pleaded guilty in March 2017 and were later sentenced to serve five years in prison.
The fourth suspect, Duane Phillip Goodson, pleaded guilty last October to misdemeanor charge of illegal disposal of a bead body. Court records show he was sentenced to one year in prison.
