VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The case against a man who is accused of firing into a crowd and injuring six people during the Fourth of July holiday at the Oceanfront will now head to trial.
In court on Friday, prosecutors described chaos in the streets after the shooting began just after midnight on July 5 at the corner of 18th Street and Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach.

“It is impossible to tell what happened that night,” said Defense Attorney Trevor Robinson. He is representing 21-year-old Ladarius Malik Trisvan who has been charged in connection to the shooting.
Prosecutors showed a video of the shooting that was captured by surveillance cameras at an oceanfront business. They told the judge the video clearly shows Trisvan raising his arm and firing the shots.
The defense disagreed. “There is a lot of foot traffic in front of the store,” Robinson added. “A lot of individuals were standing around it is impossible to see who did what.”
Prosecutors say the six victims suffered injuries to their legs, sides and hands. One man had a bullet graze his head.
The victims say they heard the shots, but never saw the shooter. In fact, defense attorneys argue there is no one who saw the shooting. The only physical evidence is the surveillance video.
However, the judge said there was enough evidence to send the case to trial and Robinson believes his client will be found innocent at the end of it.
“I feel very good about a jury trial ,” Robinson added. “I do not think that 12 citizens from our community can convict on this evidence.”
Trisvan is facing 12 felony charges including six counts of malicious wounding. A trial date has not yet been set.
