NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A Newport News man is facing charges after police say he was accused of attacking and raping a woman in mid-May.
Newport News police say 34-year-old Phillip Eubanks is charged with rape and abduction by force, intimidation or deception for an alleged incident that happened the afternoon of May 15.
Officers responded to Riverside Hospital for a reported sexual assault. A 34-year-old Newport news woman reportedly told officers her ex-boyfriend had gone to her home that afternoon, demanding that she let him in.
According to police, Eubanks reportedly attacked her after she opened the door, and hit her each time she asked him to leave. He then allegedly strangled and sexually assaulted her.
Police say warrants to arrest Eubanks were obtained May 23.
