Man dead, sister injured after shooting at Yorktown Square Apartments

YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — Tragedy struck at the Yorktown Square Apartments just before midnight on Oct. 30. Gun violence claimed a young man’s life and sent his sister to the hospital, authorities confirmed.

Deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Barham Boulevard at 11:58 p.m. for the reports of a shooting. They arrived to the scene and found 19-year-old Elysiah Lee-Jordan already deceased from his injuries and 24-year-old Dania Davis suffering from gunshot wounds to the leg. She was transferred to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office confirmed the gunshot victims are brother and sister.

“Just wish they would have covered his body up quicker,” said neighbor Charlene Connor. “Mama hadn’t showed up yet, but when she showed up, she was rather upset. Like I said, out of the privacy of the family and everything else, it’s a scary situation.”

WAVY’s Karina F. Garcia also spoke with a single mother whose vehicle was hit by a stray bullet during the incident. She said she now has to pay for a tow truck to pick it up, which is something she said she cannot afford right now.

The incident remains under investigation and no additional information has been released.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 757-890-4999 or the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
