YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) – A person was airlifted to the hospital after a crash on Route 17 in Yorktown on Tuesday morning.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office posted to X just after 7:30 a.m., stating that the southbound lanes of Route 17 were closed at Goosley Road due to the crash.

10 On Your Side’s Keagan Hughes was at the scene and said two vehicles were involved in the crash. One of the vehicles had front-end damage and the other, a black Volkswagen, had significant damage on the side.

Deputies said a helicopter landed near Yorktown Middle School to pick up a crash victim. The person was transported to a local hospital.

The crash also caused heavy delays Tuesday. A VDOT camera showed southbound lanes of the Coleman Bridge impacted due to the road closure.
