Wrong-way crash on I-264 in Virginia Beach leaves two critically injured

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A wrong-way crash on I-264 has left two people in critical condition, according to Virginia State Police.

Around 11:24 p.m. Friday, state police responded to a vehicle crash with injuries on I-264, westbound just east of Rosemont Road, in Virginia Beach.

An investigation revealed that 26-year-old Davian Wallace was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-264 when his Chrysler 200 slammed head-on into a Kia Soul, driven by a 16-year-old boy. A 2012 Nissan Pathfinder then hit the Kia in the rear and pushed it into a 2009 Honda.

Both Wallace and the 16-year-old were transported from the scene with life-threatening injuries.

The crash shutdown all westbound lanes of travel until they were reopened around 4 a.m.

An investigation is underway, and it is unknown if speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
