VIRGINIA BEACH Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach City Public Schools received a $37,500 Grief-Sensitive Schools Initiative Grant from the New York Life Foundation to develop a support plan for students dealing with grief.

The grant is an addition to the efforts made by the Coalition to Support Greiving Students, a cohesive effort among K-12 organizations to provide care for students confronting a loss.

Children with unresolved grief can exhibit behavioral issues and poor performance in school. The additional resources and training provided by the grant will equip educators to support students battling grief.
