VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach Police took into custody a heavily-armed person who had been illegally parked on the city’s Boardwalk, according to a city police official.

Police Capt. Harry McBrien, in a tweet Friday evening, said Second Precinct’s Oceanfront officers were the ones who brought the person into custody during the evening of Jan. 12.

VBPD confirmed additional details on January 19. They said 38-year-old Quentin McGinnis was taken into custody around 9:30 p.m. on January 12, in the 100 block of Atlantic Avenue.

He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a loaded rifle and possession of a concealed weapon.

As of Monday, McGinnis remained in the Virginia Beach City Jail. He has a court hearing scheduled for January 23.
