Virginia Beach Landfill and Resource Recovery Center to close Oct. 15

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Beach Landfill and Resource Recovery Center is set to close on October 15 for scheduled maintenance.

In an announcement Tuesday evening, the landfill, located at 1989 Jake Sears Road, was set to close early on October 12 due to emergency equipment issues.


The equipment repairs were completed in a timely manner and the landfill was able to reopen until its scheduled closure on October 15.

According to an updated announcement, the landfill is set to reopen on Tuesday, October 18.

Until it reopens, Virginia Beach residents will have access to the SPSA Landstown Transfer Station at 1825 Concert Drive. Please note: this location does not accept tree trunks, stumps, electronics, recycling or Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon.
