Victim in deadly UVA shooting memorialized in VB

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – One of the three UVA students who lost their lives during a shooting on Grounds earlier this month was memorialized Sunday in Virginia Beach.

A memorial service was held for Devin Chandler at Rock Church on Kempsville Road.


Both Devin Chandler’s mother and brother live in Virginia Beach. Chandler’s dad was a Naval officer and was one time stationed at Naval Station Norfolk.

Chandler was one of three UVA football players shot and killed almost two weeks ago. All five people were shot on a bus that had just arrived back on campus from Washington D.C.

ESPN reported that the entire Virginia football team will attend all three funerals.

D’Sean Perry’s homegoing service was held Saturday; it is available to view online. Chandler’s service was Sunday and Lavel Davis Jr.’s funeral is on Wednesday in North Charleston, S.C.
