VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Get ready for glitz and glam because prom season is approaching.
The Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation wants to be a ‘Fairy Godmother’ as it hosts prom dress giveaways the month of April.
It’s called the ‘Once Upon a Prom’ event.
The event gives high school students a chance to get a free prom dress, shoes and accessories.
Parks and Rec said any high schooler can attend.
Registration and park memberships are not required for those who want a free dress.
“We have over 400 items that are free. Some of these items still the tags on them that were donated by families,” said Michael Kirschman, Director of Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation.
Giveaway dates/locations can be found below:
- April 12 from 2-6 p.m. at Bayside Rec Center.
- April 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bayside Rec Center.
- April 20 at Princess Anne Rec Center.
