VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A driver is facing charges after a crash on North Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach after she and a passenger were seriously injured.
Virginia Beach police said in a news release officers were called at the 1000 block of North Great Neck Road around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
Responding officers found a four-door black Mazda had impacted a tree. Two people in the car were sent to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Both North and South bound lanes on Great Neck Road were closed in the 1000 block between Old Donation and Rose Hall for approximately two hours.
Police said that speed is being considered as a factor in the crash.
In an update Monday, police said 26-year-old Maria Melissa Reid is charged with maiming, driving while intoxicated and other traffic infractions. She remains in the hopsital with serious injuries.
