VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A teenager accused of stabbing a Virginia Beach police officer will be tried as an adult.

According to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, a grand jury indicted Riley Miller on several charges Monday, including two counts of attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer.

Miller and Jonathan Todora allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint on Shore Drive in December of 2017.

Police said Miller was later found at his home a few blocks away, but began fighting officers who were trying to take him into custody. He allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the officers in the upper leg.

Miller and Todora were both 17 at the time of the incident. An attorney appointment hearing for Riley is set for May 10.
