VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Pembroke Elementary was placed on a lockdown Wednesday morning due to the report of a person with a gun, police said.
The call came in around 8:42 a.m. Virginia Beach Police officers and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and swept the school.
After an investigation, it was determined that there was no armed individual on school property.
School officials sent the following letter out to families:
Good morning, Pembroke Elementary School families,
I want to make you aware that the school was placed on a brief internal lockdown due to police activity outside of our building. The matter was investigated and resolved by the Virginia Beach Police Department. Our students and staff are safe and instruction has resumed. Thank you for your support of Pembroke Elementary School!
