VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A firefighter was injured following a residential fire Saturday night in Virginia Beach.
According to dispatch, the call for the fire came in around 7:37 p.m. in the 5100 block of Westerly Dr.
When crews arrived on the scene, they found a home engulfed in heavy smoke and fire. Officials say the home was vacant at the time.
Crews conducted both an exterior and interior attack on the fire. The fire was marked under control at 7:59 p.m.

No civilians were injured, however, one firefighter was transported to a local hospital with a minor injury.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
